Getting There

Après-Ski & Nightlife

Les Contamines’ après-ski is genuinely French and completely unpretentious — a handful of cosy bars, good pizzerias and Savoyard restaurants (raclette, fondue, tartiflette), and a relaxed village tempo. The Bar du Téléphérique at the gondola base is the classic first-drink stop. The village has no big clubs or late-night venues — this is very much an early-to-bed, early-to-slopes resort. For a livelier evening, Saint-Gervais or Megève are 20–30 minutes away by car.

Best Time to Visit

High elevation (up to 2,485 m) and north-facing terrain give Les Contamines reliable snow from mid-December through late March. January offers the best combination of good snow and manageable crowds. February school holidays see the village at its busiest.
